Victoria Seahorn

Victoria Seahorn

Bears Teacher

With an impressive teaching tenure of 12 years at PATH, Victoria brings a wealth of experience to the Bears classroom. She says witnessing the progress of her tiny students is what makes her job truly rewarding.

Drawing from her background as a marathoner and track coach, Victoria incorporates running into her preschool curriculum. The little ones love it, and she has even introduced different races throughout the school year. Additionally, Victoria started a summer camp focused on fitness and running.

What makes PATH special for Victoria is the sense of family and community. Many of the children come from the neighborhood, and the teachers become a part of their lives as they grow up.

Jalaire Hickman

Jalaire Hickman

Music Teacher

Jalaire Hickman is the music maestro at PATH, sharing the magic of music with young souls. Joining PATH in the Fall of 2022, Jalaire combines music with movement to make learning fun and interactive, fostering both mental and physical development.

Jalaire’s teaching journey began in 2003 as a volunteer at her children’s elementary school, where she initiated a music program due to budget constraints. Since then, her passion for teaching music has taken her on various paths, including piano lessons, children’s chorister at church, and roles as a preschool music teacher in Hawaii, Lilburn and Stone Mountain.

Outside of PATH, Jalaire enjoys baking, indulging in photography, and channeling her creativity into writing children’s books.

Jane Ivey

Jane Ivey

Jellyfish Teacher

Once a PATH student herself, Jane Ivey is now back in the classroom bringing her creativity and enthusiasm to 3-year-olds in the Jellyfish class.

Jane says the best part of teaching is watching the growth of her students over time. Witnessing the transition from tears to joyful entrances, as they learn to love school, is a heartwarming experience for her. She adds, PATH has a close-knit family vibe that you won’t find just anywhere.

Outside of teaching, Jane is a dedicated dancer, spending about 12 hours a week on her passion. She also enjoys running and immersing herself in a good book. Living in the general community surrounding PATH, Jane is not just a teacher but a valuable part of the neighborhood.

Alferia Banda

Alferia Banda

Bears Teacher

Aferia Banda is behind the magic of learning for 2-year-olds in our Bears classroom. Aferia brings six years of experience to PATH, starting as a volunteer when her own kids attended. Now in her 6th year, teaching preschool has become a truly rewarding journey for her.

Aferia’s teaching style involves engaging projects that foster socialization and teamwork. Whether it’s building towers together, imaginary play, or the messy joy of finger painting, she believes in creating a space for kids to explore and learn through play. What makes PATH special for Aferia is the loving and nurturing environment they foster. It’s a place where children feel safe, loved, and supported—a true home away from home.

Outside of PATH, Aferia enjoys being out in nature through hiking, indulging in a good book, and spending quality time with her children.

Rachel Dedecker

Rachel Dedecker

Starfish Teacher

Rachel Dedecker leads the 3’s in our Starfish class. She adds a musical touch to her preschool curriculum, utilizing songs as a powerful tool. Some of her students are learning English as a second language, and through music, they grasp concepts like days of the week, types of weather, and other words that might be challenging through everyday speech.

Her favorite part of teaching preschool is the love of learning and exploration that this age group brings. Re-experiencing the world through the lenses of curious young minds is, for Rachel, one of the most gratifying things she has ever done.

Outside of teaching, Rachel enjoys knitting, painting with watercolors, and cherishing moments with her husband and daughter. Her creative spirit extends beyond the classroom, adding a personal touch to everything she does.
